Discussions that mention botox

I have been to numerous doctors including a PPS specialist and haven't had any help. I just had a hip x-ray to rule out arthritis. Currently I am scheduled for botox injections in my back in early 2005. I am hoping they help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
hmm- not ever heard of Botox used that way, but I guess it makes some sense to relax the muscle spasms--I have had the same xrays--found osteoporosis. If you can move at all, Tai Chi has really helped me so much. It is a slow movement exercise that helps stretch muscles and helps balance. It is a form of martial arts-destresses the mind as well as the body, and I found that it helps with muscle pain and tightness-- especially in the back ,shoulders, neck and legs. Good luck on your plan of action- hope it works well for you.

I have suffered chronic back pain accompanied by severe leg spasms since 1998. I had a failed back surgery which cause injury to my sciatic nerve. This nerve injury causes my muscle spasms that can not be controlled with massive doses of narcotics. In June 2005, I had Botox injections directly into the muscles of my lower legs. It took about 2 weeks for me to feel the results. The Botox has helped tremendously with the spasms. I had releif for approximately 4months. I am now going through difficulties getting the insurance companies to pay for the Botox Injections. I would like to continue having the injections but am not sure I can continue the costly expense. How did the injections work for you?
