TMJ Disorder -TemporoMandibular Joint board

well, that happened in early january and before the arthroscopy I had an arthrocentisis about 2 months before that. Since then, I had another arthrocentisis two and a half weeks ago and it has not really helped. The doctors want me to do physical therapy for about 3 weeks and see if it helps. I have had pretty much the same thing done to the joint all three times, but they injected Botox this time and think it may help. It has yet to help yet, which makes them skeptical that it is because they said it normally takes 7-10 days to get to its full potential and it has been about 20 now... They are strongly thinking that they are going to have to open the joint and possibly replace the disc. The MRI showed that it has abnormalilities as well now and is severely displaced and the tissue is more than 3 times the size of the tissue on the right side. Also, the doctors said the joint was extremely hard to get into during all three procedures and that it was even more difficult this time. They think there could be something else going on with the joint such as a calcium buildup(?) or something about nerves...
So, I should see where this is going in the next couple of weeks...
My doctor has done multiple things to try to eliminate the muscle spasms. I first tried the mucles relaxers as well and they did absolutly nothing. Then the first time I saw this new doctor, he did an injection into the muslces with muscle relaxant and it helped for about two days-- until it wore off. Then I just had another arthorcentisis done and they injected Botox into the mucles this time-- supposedly it relives mucles spasms--- well, it is SUPPOSED to... however, it did not in my case. Well, actually it did relive the spasms for about 3 days after the procedure and then they came back. So, my doctor is saying now that the "mechanical" problem I have with my joint is making these spasms worse and since I have already tried 2 arthrocentisis and an arthroscopy, the only option now is open joint surgery. In my case, open joint will entail moving the disc back into place and suturing it there, or completely taking hte disc out, or taking it out and replacing it. There is also a lot of damaged tissue they are going to remove and something about a ligament. I go Wednesday to find out more details about the options...
