Had to robotic surgery 2 days after Labor Day. Still having incontince problems and no sexual activity yet. Which is driving me crazy have completed several home projects to burn that energy. Though I have seen some progress. Taking Cialis three times a week. I'm 44 years old so I'm confident it will come back. I would use your equipment all that you can before surgery. If you do have to wear pads get serinity for men they are very comfortable. The other cut into your legs. Get some anti itch cream and whoever shaves you asked them to be careful I got nicked and it took a while to heal.

Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving.
I had the surgery March 14..my urologist didn't do robotic, so had to have the regular surgery, spared both nerves. I had to wear the pads until just one month ago when I finally had confidence enough to go without. So far that's worked well, just an occasional small leak when I move suddenly or lift something too heavy. As for the impotence, that's still a problem. So far, nothing has happened except for some very small semi-erections. I tried Edex injections, but that caused problems and had to stop. I've had significant shrinkage due to the scarring caused by the injections, and I guess also because of lack of blood flow to the penis. I take Cialis almost every day to try to get things working again. I remain hopeful!! (And FRUSTRATED!!!) I hope all goes well for you, and everyone is different, so you may have less problem than I've had. We'll be anxious to hear reports on your progress.

Bagster,
First, congrats on making the decision for removal of the gland. Given your age, test results, etc. seems that is the absolute best choice for you and the sure fire best chance for a cure. Having said all that, the sexual side effects may and can stop you in your tracks if you are not mentally prepared for a long road back during recovery. Youth is on your side I should think and the experiences you have read about others having here on the Boards may not affect you the same way. I agree with bghjul's response :D ... use your equipment as much as possible (and then some) prior to surgery. Things will DEFINITELY be different afterwards. :bouncing:

As someone else alluded to, the incontenance issue is the first thing you need to deal with over the long haul. I had my robotic, nerve sparring surgery on May 16th of this year and still have to wear 2-3 pads a day due to "sudden gushes" which happen a few times a day. If my body gives me a warning, I am able to control them, but the usual is "no warning."

I am just now getting to the point where, with the aid of Viagra/Cialis type drugs and a VED,I can again enjoy love making and sex with my wife once again. No question about it :( ... much of the spontanaiety is no longer there and making adjustments in preparation for our trists is a pain. One positive is there is no more "clean up" required afterwards, except for putting the VED away, etc. Dry orgasims are another thing that will take getting accustomed to.

Bottom line though is the KNOWING the beast is no longer in you and the PSA results of 0.0 mean you have a long life of continued sexual activity to look forward to. Ths docs and the research tell us that it can take as much as 2 years to recover complete function. I am hopeful (for all of us) that is won't take that much time, but I am prepared mentally in the event that it does. A big plus is the support I have received from my wife. Without our dear spouses, the things we have to go through in all of this wouldn't quite be worth it as much <---personal opinion. Good luck to you bagster, and keep in touch.

Good Luck. You better get busy. I went on vacation this summer and I told the doctor to give me samples of Cialis. Because I had work to do.

Be patient and take it one day at a time. I'm two months out of surgery and I had about 40 % erection the other day. You get so excited you have to control yourself from running out of the shower to annouce it.

Good Luck
