Hello,

I am wondering more out of curiousity than anything what the difference between some of the male 'helper pills' are?

For instance I have heard of Cialis and Viagra. Are they the same thing, or what are the differences?

Also are there any others available? If so what do they do that is different?

Anyway anyone who can help explain these would be great,
Thanks :)
I think they all work on the same principle -- relaxing the veins that feed the penis thereby allowing better blood flow and a better erection, but chemically they achieve that effect a bit differently. Viagra, cialis, and levitra are the three on the market. You could talk to your doctor about them. It appears that individuals respond a bit differently to each of the pills.
Well I am curious mainly because I was prescribed Cialis (2 pills) as a test. Wanted to know what it is vrs the rest I guess.

I was prescribed the pills to begin with as I was having trouble getting it up, or keeping it up. Doc said it was all in my head, but said if you really want I'll give you a little perscription to help 'break the ice'. The pill didnt seem to really do anything probably because it was A) a really low dose and B) not for my problem. I never took the secand one as I really havnt seen any point. I believe he is correct in saying its in my head, as overtime I have begun to do "better". Overcome my nervusness...etc. At the same time, I was thinking that maybe viagra would be better to help "break the ice". Not looking for a permanent thing as I know or at least beleive at this time that there is nothing wrong down there. Just something to help get me back on track, but poping Cialis seems pointless and maybe harmful? as it doesnt work for me.

You will find that over time, you will become MUCH more comfortable with what is going on in the situation and with your body and will most likely NOT have a thing to worry about. Know that this is normal for all of us... we have all been there, and the more you worry and focus on it, the worse it gets. Just try to relax, and things will function the way they are supposed to. Ok? If this doesn't help, then next time you see your doc, tell him that the Cialis did NOTHING and that you know that it's nerves, but embarrassing for you anyway. Maybe he will give you some Viagra or Levitra instead. A lot of people don't find success with one med, but do with another. And as far as harming you... they are safe to take. Especially if you suffer severe anxiety and can know in the back of your mind that you have the medication to help you when the time comes to get aroused.

Good luck. I KNOW everything will work out fine for you. Trust me, you will look back one day and say to yourself, "I don't know why I was so worried." :)

Just two cents from the wife of a wonderful 44 year old man with some performance anxiety that has affected his ability to maintain an erection. We don't believe he has a real physical problem per se, but certainly being told to relax seems kinda useless for him. If it was that easy, he wouldn't seek help. Plus he takes antidepressants so that could have some impact. In any event, he has tried Viagra and just also tried Levitra. He doesn't need much, as these are very potent for him (wow ;) ). These meds enable our love making to last longer and give us time for me too. Without them he can usually perform, but we need to move quickly for him to keep his erection. In terms of how they work, he does find them sort of exhausting --- he can't entirely explain this to me. But seems that the whole build up and release is just much more intense and stronger so he's wiped afterward. I'd say don't give up trying the meds and ask for samples of Viagra or Levitra. Cialis takes a long time to build up on your system if I've read the details correclty so perhaps that's why it didn't work for you. Go for something shorter acting. Anxiety is a very valid reason to seek assistance and I think too many docs simply give the "it's all in your head" answer. I personally don't think that's a sensitive or helpful response to a very important issue.
Cialis doesn't take long to build up in your system, it just stays in your system longer allowing the manufacturer to claim that it works for 36 hrs.

I use it and it does last about 3 days.. From what I have read if you don't get erections at night while sleeping than it is a physical problem ( poor circulation). But I have also read that it can be both physical and pyschological... I used to take Viagra and it worked well but the effects only last about 4 hours and it would not work if you ate a meal before taking it. Cialis can be taken after a meal with no problem .
Me too...3 days with cialis, 20 mg.,...even into the 4th. But I don't get much help the first 6 hours...better actually the second day.

It's also unlike Viagra in that the Viagra seems to cause a certain full feeling within an hour with no stimulation but the cialis feels like nothing is going on until there is stimualtion, but then a very nice response.

For me, cialis is a great drug; viagra and levitra almost useless.
Using Viagra it would work but I felt numb and there was not much feeling down there and it only lasts 4 hours or so. The Cialis does not have the same effect. There is more sensitivity and it lasts 3 days.....
