Hello all,

I'm posting again under a new name. Over the summer I had some name like nycgirl or something like that. Im writing about a friend of mine. In a nutshell he is 58, had a PSA of 8 and Gleason of 6 and had radical surgery in July. The surgery went really well. They said it had not gone outside the margins (I think its called margines?) The cathetar was a bit annoying but he managed and believe it or not continence isnt so bad. He doesnt wear any pads today, 4 months later, little dribbles here and there, but not too much. Cialis and Viagra both work well. He takes em every other day just to get the blood flowing again.

Anyway, Im here for some questions on that 6 month follow-up PSA. Over the weekend he noticed he kept getting a fever. He went to the Dr. and she called him today and said that it seems like theres an infection somewhere, either that or a urinary tract infection. He cant see the dr. until sat. because he is working and she didnt sound like it was so urgent. I wanted him to go in right away but he felt it wasnt so urgent, and if it was she would have said so. So, I was a bit worried about that. The fever is down now. Im thinking that every fever is caused bc of a little infection somewhere? Not too sure on that.

Secondly, he is really worried about that first PSA check-up. It was supposed to be in January but since this Dr. took some blood work, she told him shed check the PSA as well. He is worried if it has gone up. What are the chances that it has? I encourage him and tell him that chances are its below 0 because he just had it taken out and it did not spread, but I worry about it myself because I dont know too much about this. His urologist, tonight, told him not to lose sleep over it and not to worry.

What do you all think?

thanks to you all for your support. You guys are great!
