I tried MUSE, after having no luck with 100lMg of Viagra, and the strongest dosages of Levitra and Cialis. The insertion of the MUSE pellets was not a problem at all. For me, MUSE just didn't work. Haven't had much luck with injections, either. The VED is the only dependable thing I've found, but the constriction rings kill the feeling due to numbness. My next step will probably be a penile implant. It's been almost four years since RRP, and having my doctor say "We were able to spare the nerves". Yep, they'll tell you that, but it's up to you to really find out, and there's nothing you can do to make it work if the nerves really weren't spared. By then, he's long gone.
Good luck.
I am now at 26 months post RP, and nothing works..I've tried Viagra, Cialis, Levitra, VED, and Edex injections. So, Monday, I'm having a penile prosthesis (implant). It is likely that had I not used the injections and developed fibrosis, I'd not have to do this, but the urologist (2 of them) said it's my only option now, so I've finally made up my mind to do so after LOTS of struggle.
I haven't posted in quite a while, and am jumping into this thread a bit late, but I wanted to share my experience on this topic. I had open RRP at Johns Hopkins in Oct. '04. On my surgeon's (Dr. Carter) recommendation and prescription, I started taking Viagra daily after about a month. At first, nothing at all. Eventually, some moderate success, but not enough for intercourse. Working with my local uro, I started using injections about 7 or 8 months post-op. These worked pretty well, on one occasion a bit too well (4 hours plus and painful, was on the verge of going to ER when it subsided). I also started developing some scar tissue that was giving me a double bend, so I discontinued the shots. I was considering an implant (and thanks to doj for the ongoing reports on the process--very helpful) when, at a routine followup visit with my uro, I told him the Viagra wasn't really doing the job. He gave me a sample pack of Cialis, just to try it. Well, within 45 minutes of taking 10 mg that evening, I had what I needed for full penetration. It has worked pretty reliably for me ever since. For unrelated reasons, my wife and I haven't had anything close to a "normal" sex life, but I continue to take Cialis to keep things active. I always get pretty strong nocturnal erections with it, usually for at least 2 nights after taking it, and sometimes get something going even when I haven't taken it for several days. All of this is not to say that Cialis is "better" than Viagra or Levitra, just that it is worth trying all of them to see if you get a better response from one than the other. As always, your mileage may vary. The big lesson is that you have to keep working at it. There is a solution for each of us, we just have to keep looking.
