Cancer: Prostate board

Hi Idaho!

We are back from the doctor! YEAH! First PSA test was <0.03. Lowest possible for their lab.

The doctor was very pleased. Said that we should be on top of the world. The type of PC my husband had was pretty aggressive. Untreated, he had 5-10 years. To have negative margins, nothing in the lymph nodes or seminal vesicles and now this is the BEST results in the world! He went as far as saying that even positive margins and we would be doing radiation now. I never felt so relieved!

Actually said these are all very strong signs that he will be cured. We will talk to him on updates in a few weeks and see him at the 6 month mark.

On incontinence, that issue is almost gone. Only with stress, and extreme at that, like playing tennis. They were very pleased and said that is way ahead of the game. So all, keep that in mind....

On ED, they are very pleased with that progress as well. Gave him a prescription for the VED to help regain the size he lost (any recommendations on VED devices???) and scheduled him to meet with the specialist for injections per the advise of the psychiatrist that I mentioned, Dr. Levine. Actually, his urologist did say that he likes his patients to have erections back at 2-3 months (aided or unaided) for mental reasons. It helps with the long run process of having them return. So much of this process is mental.

He also had some issue with weakness on the inner thigh of one leg. Happened after surgery and now again after returning to playing tennis. Uro said it was common for extreme exercise. Another nerve! lol. One that is affective removing lymph nodes.

Great appointment. Sorry for so much info!

Celebrating tonight!
Have a good day all!
Debbie
Thanks Idaho!

My husband has it ordered and will have it Friday. Yes, the cost is around $450. Insurance will cover 80% which is great. Our insurance company, Anthem, has been great through this whole ordeal. We had a $200 deductible for surgery and our office copays of 10, that's it. They even cover viagra and cialis.

On another note, which surprised me... a year ago, I took out Aflac cancer insurance, and received a check yesterday from them for $10,990 for this. Wow. Took the policy out because so many I knew were getting cancer. Unfortunately, we used the policy. But, if any of you are ever thinking about Aflac, it is very affordable, and it does cover the unexpected nicely. I do not have it as my insurance, but a supplement.

So, for those of you not testing positive now... consider that for the future!
