Cancer: Prostate board

[QUOTE=richarda123;3496754]Diagnosed Jan 08 with Gleason 8, PSA 3.02, DRE normal. Discovered PSA velocity trouble in routine checkup: I'm 55. I have a fundamental idea where I'm at after pathology of the cancerous

They could not spare any nerves but the surgeon has me on 3 100mg Viagra per week. Any ideas? Maybe circulation enhancement down there? I don't like the cost. Ins. should pay but $178 for 12 pills at Walgreens? I thought he said I s/b on these for a year; will have to ask. I'm not sure but it seems to me that a University setting will increase one's odds vs. a regular hospital. Something about Universities are on the "front lines/cutting edge" of studies and research activity.

Again thanks to all on this board for advice and pointing me to Chicago: kind of a mini vacation.

Thank you

Hi again Richard,
As i have mentioned on your original post previously , i will again comment on the ED part of your recovery since have done some detailed research and read alot of some knowledge base material.
I am still baffled to WHY your surgeon recommended Viagra for a whole year when he removed your nerve bundles, there is no nerves to help the blood stream get to your penis, i would suggest to consult with an ED specialist and maybe try the Pump that works well with many on this board , instead of waiting for oral meds miracle, my advise to you will be to try other routes that will have better results...again i am sorry to break bad news to you , but once your nerves are removed you need to find some other artificial ways to achieve erection (and there are some available out there , But its not the every day Meds like Viagra and Cialis) ...talk to your Uro or get a second opinion from an ED specialist , i would hate to see you get frustrated for the next 2 years in attempt to get back to potency through the conventional ways ...

Good Luck and keep us posted
