Discussions that mention cimetidine

Herpes board

 I just wanted to start a thread by itself in case some of you haven't seen my posts in the middle of other threads about using Tagamet or Cimetidine(generic). A while back, a few months I suppose, I saw a thread talking about using Cimetidine for treating herpes and at the time I had this rash(two actually) of it that wouldn't go away no matter what I put on it. I read some on the internet about using it (one tablet...200mg....three times a day and 2 tablets at night before bedtime) and found that some research is finding it more effective than prescription meds. My result was amazing! As soon as I started taking it the rash just went away. I took it for 3 day and the rash completely stopped itching and dried up(rashes that had been going on for 2 months!). I have had a few OBs(feeling them coming on actually) and each time I take 2 or three days of this and it just goes away pretty much after one day. I won't guarantee this for everyone but for about 5 or 6 bucks a package at Walmart, I'd say it's certainly worth a shot. You can research it by searching for "cimetidine for treating herpes" and I believe you'll find the same info I found. :)
hi there...I've had herpes for about 10 years and have been controlling it with Acyclovir. I'm keen to now use something totally natural and was wondering if your cimetidine treatment is an alternative and natural one?
As far as I'm aware...cimetidine is not a natural treatment...sorry but few side effects and is cheap and OTC.

I was even reading that using the prescription antiviral treatments can have ill effects of your body's natural ability to fight viruses...so I want to stay away from such drugs.

Hi there - thanks for your reply.

Does that mean that Cimetidine if not natural, is an antiviral tratment?
I never saw this thread first time around. I will google Cimetidine, but wondered what is it actually marketed for? I gather it isn't marketed as an actual herpes treatment.

Keepsgoin, is this product still working for you?
