At 24 I started getting bumps all over my face. My derm. said it was folliculitis and put me on tons of antibiotics (oral) and some steriod creams as well. None of it helped. My opinion, is that it was not folliculitis. I have what I believe is folliculitis on my arms and it's so stubborn nothing works. But for my face, I started seeing a really awesome asthetician she gave me facials once every 3-4 weeks and also urged me to try a 5 and 10% glycolic gel. Well it worked fabulously. Now 2 and 1/2 years later I'm still seeing her for facial once every 6 weeks or so and I'm using the 10% morning and evening.

I hope this helps you. It was the only thing that helped me. I did try all types of acne med's. Differin, Benzaclyn, Retin A, Clindamycin, Sulfur washes and masks, Salicylic Acid Washes etc, etc..... this is what worked the best.

Michey, I wonder how a derm can tell, especially if it is on your face, if it is folliculitis. Did he do a culture? I am wondering if you had fungal folliculitis? I tried all the washes and stuff you mentioned above and it just irritated the crap out of my arms.

I ended up having bacterial folliculitis, and it was in my blood stream, so my treatment had to come from taking antibiotics internally. The ONLY one that worked was Duricef.

Facials are great, aren't they? I have been on the Obagi Nu Derm system for like 7 years now and its great!
