Does Hypothyroidism affect your vision??

I had a BT done in Oct05 and was told that I have borderline Hypothyroidism.

Too make a long story short, I have been TTC for 8 years for #1. I did O/I 3 times in 2001. M/C Nov 03 then from Sept 04 to May 05 I did 7 cycles of Clomid along with BBT. While doing the BBT, I found that my body temp was lower compared to other charts.

I basically had to beg for them to check my thryoid, as I thought there might have been a problem. Anyway, it come back that I was borderline and to come back in 3 months to get retested.

But what I want to know, does the Hypo cause vision problems?? My Dr blamed the clomid for it, but I have now been off the clomid for 8 months, and if anything my vision is getting worse.

I have been to a Eye Surgeon, who told me on the first visit that my vision was normal. I tried to say to him that in the mornings my vision is fine. As the day wears on it gets worse. 2nd visit, he asked me how my vision had gotten so bad over the 2 week period and asked me if I had had a blow to the side of the head or any sort of head injury. when I told him no and said this is what happens he told me that my gel is coming away from my retina. With the research I have done in regards to this, the blurry vision is continuous, not gradual throughout the day. Does that make sense??

I have an appointment with another dr next month for a 2nd opinion. I have an appointment in April for a fertility specialist and hope to have everything sorted out before I start down the IVF path.

Well I had better go, as this post is longer than I expected lol But I guaranteed I'll be back with more questions :D

TIA
Dani
Not too sure, but I can tell you, when i took Clomid........... OMG, did it ever mess with my vision... It was like i had this FILM over my eyes, while on it... However, I just saw an Endo about some tests I got back on my Thyroid, and that was one of the questions he asked me, if Ihad vision problems, so YES, Maybe thyroid can cause vision disturbance, but not really all that sure, iknow other will answer this waybetter then I, I am just learning all this stuff...

Missy

BTW, I still have this vision problem... I also saw an eye Dr, and I was told I had 20/20 vision... I have no idea, but I am waiting too hear back from my Endo with the results of the blood work they did on me!
Wow, thank you all so much for replying. It's great to know that there are people out there that have the same problems I do! :)

In regards to the clomid - I had shocking side effects from it. They even tried dropping the dose to 25mg to try and help. Let's hope they won't put me on it again when I do the F/T.

Also, with being sensitive to light. OMG yes!!! We're in the middle of summer here and it's just about killing me LOL. I can't go outside without my sunglasses on. Nighttime driving I'm fine with, well that is until another car goes past me. But then again, it's great when we have an overcast day as it's not so bad (still have to wear the sunnies tho).

Back in 2001, when they started the original investigations into my infertility, they tested my Thyroid and it came back fine. But then the blood test came back borderline only a couple of months ago. I'm doing my head in thinking that is why I m'c in nov 2003. But then am also thinking maybe the pg set it off for me. Who knows

My poor DH is getting so confused!! I was speaking to him today about the F/S appointment and mentioned that they may have to take out my Fibroid. He thought I meant the Thyroid! You should have seen the look on his face. After I explained it too him he said "How many roid's do you have??" LOL

So do you think it would be a good idea to get a pair of perscription glass for when my vision is bad, or do you all think it's a waste of time??

Also, do you all suffer from migraines?? I've always gotten migraines, but just recently they seem to be coming in clusters. I think my migraines are called Ocular Migraines because of the distorted image. I have this for about 1/2 an hour and then when that passes, i then get the headache which lasts through to the next day.

Well thank you all again for replying.
