Parkinson's Disease board

:p Hi {{Hugs to you}}
If you remain active and take care of yourself, you will slow the progression. My mother is now 69, has had pd for 10 yrs, and approx 1 1/2 yrs ago she was almost wheelchair bound, she then went on Amantadine and is now up on still on the go (freezing and hesitation but on the go).
medications to start are usually sinemet, then possibly comtan or mirapex is added to help the sinemet last longer (acts as a battery backup).
You are still young, and so long as you keep walking and remain active, you should be able to work the years you wish. Please note that if you feel depressed or emotional at times, it is the PD, and a common thing with PD, especially newly dx patients. MY mother went through that, and I think it was due to accepting the disease. We got through it, and we just take one day at a time.
Loving prayers to you
Karen
