Anemia board

hi, I guess the title says it all, if you have read my other posts, you know I am anemic. I had gall bladder surgery last jan 31st. Stayed in the hospital 4 days. I went back to my Doc last thur, he ordered me in for an emergency ultraound on my right leg where they found an enourmous blood clot from my groin to my knee. I was re-admitted to the hospital and was given two more units of blood and 6 bags of potassium and 6 or 7 bags of heprin. I was released today after 5 days. I will be be given coumadin tomorrow. I am more discouraged than scared, I don't have any answers and I need some. Anybody?

I am sorry that you are not doing so well. I do not know the answer because I am not sure of the question. It does sound sort of like you have some over active blood platelets though. Maybe things will start to get better soon. Good luck.
Hi, hope you are doing better. I really don't know about the coumidin, I've heard it could be as long as 6 months. I am so tired of being tired, I go back to my Doc on Thursday and am at the point of insisting he so something about the anemia. I have had four transfusions, two one week, two a week later, and felt great for about a week after, but was given no b vitamins or iron supplements to help me make red blood cells. I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis and that is known to cause anemia so maybe they want to send me to a specialist before they start treatments, who knows. I did have a nurse tell me that with coumadin I shouldn't eat anything with sharp edges like potato chips that could cut my mouth, or sharp candies like m&ms or the cadbury crispy eggs, not to shave with a blade. That I would bruise easily. I guess my question would be, how do I make red blood cells?
