Discussions that mention coumadin

I have same thing.Other name is lupus anticoagulant syndrome. It doesn't mean you have lupus though. When i was diagnosed dr gave me a fact sheet that explained it.It is not very common.I was diagnosed with it after finding blood clots in my leg.Treatment is now coumadine but I had to give myself fragmin injections for 3 months first.Taking coumadine is much easier!!! except for the frequent blood tests.I also have rheumatoid arthritis and apparently it is common for someone that has lupus anticoagulant to also hve RA.
Yes, anitphospholipid antibody syndrome (APLA) can be related to lupus, epilepsy, as well as miscarriages and blood clots. This explains my seizures, bruising, miscarriages. I am recovering from recent open-heart surgery as 3 clots have found their way into my heart. Will be on Coumadin for the rest of my life...small price to pay to stay alive.
