Discussions that mention cyclobenzaprine

Pain Management board

I think that unfortunately the only ones that WILL be strong enough for the cramping are all going to come with the sleepiness... Is there another type of plain old muscle relaxer that you can take that isn't as sedating? I know I can take cyclobenzaprine (sp?I think it is called )without getting too drowsy...
Checked with my Mom last night who has terrible back problems (discs) and found out what they prescribed her after her last appointment with the back specialist....

She is now taking Flexiril (which I think generic is cyclobenzaprine sp?) and Diazapam. I don't know if that is valium? I think it might be...I know it is a benzo...

So far she says it is workring for the pain pretty well. But she can only take the diazapam at night because it knocks her out. She takes only the flexeril during the day. She said unfortunately she has still has pain throughout the day (although not nearly as bad as w/out the meds!) but she is able to stay alert and not fall asleep at work etc...the way she was when taking the diazapam during the day.

Just wanted to share since her meds are similar to what you asking about! Let us know what you decide to try!

Tina :)
