I've had cervical Epidural Steroid Injections. Each doctor who does them has a slightly different approach but the way mine worked is I arrived at the treatment center about 30 minutes before my injection, then was given a gown to wear but could leave my pants/underwear on - they just wanted my neck to be exposed. Then a line into my arm was started (like a capped off IV) and I walked into the treatment room. I'd lay down and they'd inject versed and Demerol in the line they put in. Next thing I knew I was in a recliner drinking apple juice. No actual pain to the injection since I was "consciously sedated" with the versed. I'd be tired the rest of the day due to the versed and Demerol but fine. I had two series of 3 injections each (each 2 weeks apart).
