Depression board

So far I've tried Lexapro, Wellbutrin, Lexapro and Wellbutrin together, Adderall, Metadate, and just lately the Effexor. None have helped. Parnate will be the next one and then the Emsam patch. I've decided against ECT.

The beginning of this year ( January 2007) is when I began trying these medications - after having a complete nervous breakdown from lack of sleep. I almost had to take disability from work it got so bad. I had never made any real attempts before this year to get help or try medications. My main depression symptoms are insomnia, feeling chronically numb and paralized, fatigue, and difficutly concentrating.

I'm going on 38 years of this chronic and apparently incurable malaise. I'm beginning to think the longer you suffer with depression (the true clinical and internal kind - like I have), the harder it is to treat. It's like my brain has become permantently set in sadness - and it just can't be "un-done" now.

I'm very sorry to hear about your depression. I think that the main reason that humans get depressed is that they are disconnected from god. I know this board is not about religions but believe me god is the solution for all the problems. Anyway, I have depression since I was young (I'm 25 now) and I have problems too. I sleep good but I can't concentrate at all and I'm tired almost all the time :(, I think I have been depressed since I was a kid. I was scared to try antidepressants but I came to know that I must do it. We must seek help and never lose the hope to become normal again.

Have you tried Prozac?
Good luck,
Michael
