Back Problems board

Dear Julie, I also have AS, and have had a lot of inflammation in my facet joints and sacro iliac joints. Yes, your ankles can be involved-any joint or place where a ligament or tendon attaches is typical of AS. I have mostly problems in my spine, but also in my hands and knees too. Have you seen a rheumatologist yet? They will test you for the marker HLA-B27 which is an indicator for AS. The best way I am attacking this disease is with meds from my rheumatologist (sulindac, prednisone, enbrel) and with injections/nerve blocks from my physiatrist who specializes in the spine. It is very frustrating to get diagnosed, but once you do there are alot of treatment options out there. Take care, Kera
