Sorry for not responding in a while. This has been a physically and emotionally draining week. I think the last time I had written I had said that my ultrasound showed about 40 growing follicles on each ovary. Well, that day I got my estrogen back and it was 5900 (after 5 days of stimming)! My follistim was decreased and three days later, on Saturday, my estrogen was 21,000. So, the doctor stopped my follistim. Then on Monday I went back and my estrogen was 30,000...even worse. Things were looking pretty bad. My estrogen was going up, even on no meds. The entire time I have been feeling awful. I have had bad nausea and vomiting, abdominal tenderness, bloating, weight gain, etc. Then yesterday I started feeling better and today I feel much better. This morning I went for an u/s and blood work. The follicles are still in good shape, with some that are the right size and about 70 more that are smaller but we can do nothing until my estrogen comes down. I am waiting for the nurse to call and tell me my estrogen level today. The RE says that we cannot wait a long time with no meds because the eggs need to be taken out sooner rather than later. If my estrogen comes down to about 7,000 by the end of the week he will do the retrieval! That is very exciting, but also scary because my estrogen has been way too high all week. I am praying that a miracle will happen and it will come down to the perfect level in the next day or so, because I really want to do the retrieval.
Whit- I am sorry to hear that AF showed up. That is very unfortunate. How are you feeling? What are your plans now? I hope you are doing ok.
Lisa (Igs)- how are things going in your cycle? Any new u/s or blood work? Any closer to E/R. Keep us updated.
Km- How are things going for you? Are you still stimming? Are the follicles growing? I hope that you are feeling great and being very hopeful.
April- Thanks for checking in on me. It has been a tough week. I wanted to say though, that I don't think that the amount of time you are on BCPs is that critical. I know people that were on them one month and others for just a week. I think the length of time on Lupron is more important, if you are going to start that. Also, sometimes the RE will start a new cycle of BCPs without having AF ever show up. Maybe you should check in with your RE and see what they say. Good luck! Let us know what happens.
Hazel- I hope that all is well with your u/s. Let us know how that perfect little baby(s) looks.
Lisa- How are things going with your donor. I hope that things are moving along well.
Well, best of luck to all of you and I will be praying for you!
