Discussions that mention follistim

Hello friends, how is everyone today?
Well let me start by saying that AF showed up this morning in full force, so first IUI did not work. I don't even think it's worth it going for my beta tomorrow. I called the nurse so she can let me know what is the next step, most likely will start follistim tomorrow again. I'm a little down but I need to stay positive and keep trying.
I just hope you ladies have a better start of the week than I have.
Baby bust for everyone
XOXOXOXO
Hello everyone. I have posted a few times, but I don't often get time to post since I am pretty busy, but I try to keep up with what everyone is saying. So far, it seems like there has been a week of not-so-good news. I think I made add to that, unless someone has something encouraging to say.

So, I started my stimulation injections on Friday (so tonight will be my fourth injection). When I started on Friday my estrogen was 48. This morning, after just 3 days of follistim, my estrogen was 1600 and I have had nausea and vomiting for two days. My doctor reduced my dose of follistim from 225 to 175 for Monday and Tuesday night, but I do not go in for another blood draw or an u/s until Wednesday. I am pretty worried that the cycle will be canceled because of OHSS and my DH is really worried about me getting really sick with OHSS.

Has anybody had estrogen levels this high? Any advice?
Hi to everybody,

I am sorry to hear that it seems to have been a rough week on this thread. I am really hoping that this means that things are going to turn right around right away.

Soleil - I am not too familiar with estrogen levels, so I'm sorry that I can't help. But, I do hope that your cycle can continue as planned. Did your doctor give you any indication of whether he/she was worried? I hope that you're feeling better.

Km - I'm sorry about DH's SA. Although I do think that dehydration and the other factors really pay a role - so I hope the next one is much higher.

Hazel - Congrats, and I'm happy to hear that all is well.

Cashahn - How are you doing and feeling?

Sending lots of sticky babydust, and thinking of you all.

Kel

Solange - I'm sorry that AF showed. It's so unfair, I hope that you can start back up with your follistim tomorrow.
Hello girls,
So I'm feeling ok today, I spoke to the nurse this morning and I'm starting to get ready for my second IUI. Today I will start with 100iu of Follistim shots. I feel positive and ready about this second cycle.

Whit- honey, you remind me of myself a couple of years ago when the doctor also told me I had to lose weight. I did lose 23 pounds and it took me one year to do it. The hard work paid off because I started to have periods on my own. I know it's hard but it's only for your benefit. However, I think doctors should look at all the factors and not only focus on your weight.

Hazel - How are you doing? Your ultrasound is coming soon next week right? All the best honey.

Solei - I hope u/s and blood work go well and hopefully you'll have good size follicles, let us know how you do.

Km- I'm glad you got everything solved and can now move on and concentrate on the cycle, wishing you all the best.

Baby dust to all of you, smile
Sorry for not responding in a while. This has been a physically and emotionally draining week. I think the last time I had written I had said that my ultrasound showed about 40 growing follicles on each ovary. Well, that day I got my estrogen back and it was 5900 (after 5 days of stimming)! My follistim was decreased and three days later, on Saturday, my estrogen was 21,000. So, the doctor stopped my follistim. Then on Monday I went back and my estrogen was 30,000...even worse. Things were looking pretty bad. My estrogen was going up, even on no meds. The entire time I have been feeling awful. I have had bad nausea and vomiting, abdominal tenderness, bloating, weight gain, etc. Then yesterday I started feeling better and today I feel much better. This morning I went for an u/s and blood work. The follicles are still in good shape, with some that are the right size and about 70 more that are smaller but we can do nothing until my estrogen comes down. I am waiting for the nurse to call and tell me my estrogen level today. The RE says that we cannot wait a long time with no meds because the eggs need to be taken out sooner rather than later. If my estrogen comes down to about 7,000 by the end of the week he will do the retrieval! That is very exciting, but also scary because my estrogen has been way too high all week. I am praying that a miracle will happen and it will come down to the perfect level in the next day or so, because I really want to do the retrieval.

Whit- I am sorry to hear that AF showed up. That is very unfortunate. How are you feeling? What are your plans now? I hope you are doing ok.

Lisa (Igs)- how are things going in your cycle? Any new u/s or blood work? Any closer to E/R. Keep us updated.

Km- How are things going for you? Are you still stimming? Are the follicles growing? I hope that you are feeling great and being very hopeful.

April- Thanks for checking in on me. It has been a tough week. I wanted to say though, that I don't think that the amount of time you are on BCPs is that critical. I know people that were on them one month and others for just a week. I think the length of time on Lupron is more important, if you are going to start that. Also, sometimes the RE will start a new cycle of BCPs without having AF ever show up. Maybe you should check in with your RE and see what they say. Good luck! Let us know what happens.

Hazel- I hope that all is well with your u/s. Let us know how that perfect little baby(s) looks.

Lisa- How are things going with your donor. I hope that things are moving along well.

Well, best of luck to all of you and I will be praying for you!
