Discussions that mention follistim

Infertility board

I'm 40 yrs old. Been ttc since Sept 2007. The first time doing Clomid, got pregnant but at 9 1/2 weeks, had a miscarriage. Since then, tried 3 more cycles of Clomid with no luck.
This is my first time doing the injectables of Follistim. Started the injections on Wednesday (7/9/08).
Would love to hear from someone who is either on the same cycle I am on and is going through this as well, or someone who has done this.
I have decided not to discuss this with my friends and family anymore since all I get from them is "don't stress out...it will happen".
Thank you all and good luck too all.
Hi and welcome to the boards. I did clomid for 5 cycles with 1 pg with also ended in m/c @ 9 weeks. I then moved onto the Gonal-f injections (same as follistim) and Ovidrell. We did three cycles with BDing and got pg on the third try. I am now 23 weeks pg. So hang in there it WILL happen for you. You can read all about my Journey on the sub board 'Share your IF Story'

Good luck

Hello MissShellb, welcome to the boards.
I am going through the exact same thing. I did 4 cycles of Clomid but didn't work because found out DH has low sperm count. I started taking follistim 75iu and had my first IUI two weeks ago, but it didn't work as AF showed up on Monday. Now I'm getting ready for second IUI, I'm starting today with 100iu of Follistim shots. I also have Ovidrell but didn't have to take on the first IUI because I ovulated on my own. We also decided not to mention anything to our family and friends because we didn't think they would understand what we were going through.
I hope the first IUI works for you, best wishes and lots of baby dust.

Thanks for your post! Congratulations to you! I just got a call from the doctors office and the girl told me that I'm surging. Do the shot tonight and then come in tomorrow (Thursday) for the IUI. Keep your fingers crossed! 4 rounds of Clomid, 1 miscarriage...I don't know how much of this I can take.
At 35 years old, I did three cycles of clomid without success and then was switched to the follistim and ovidrell and was success after two months! I've got a gorgeous 15 month old now to show for it. Hang in there - you'll find what will work and will be SO please with the results. Fingers crossed for you IUI! :)

I had 3 IUIs already. Currently 12 days after 3rd IUI, and waiting to test after 14 days. Actually I tested on day 10th after iui and saw it negative. I was so sad that I cried for hours. I have seen no symptoms - breasts began to soar from 11th day - afraid that it is the symptom for the period:-(

I try to say "fingers crossed for me", but very sad.
goldenpig71: I will keep my fingers crossed for you too. Have yourself that good cry does help out a lot. I just had mine last night and am ready to try again. Have to take a month off since I have a cyst...but as soon as the doc says it's okay...I'm going right back. I had done Clomid for 4 cycles (1st time got pregnant - but miscarried). Moved on to Follistim injections. When the doc says it's okay...it will be my second try with Follistim.
Good luck and I hope you have a BFP.
