Diabetes board

I was told 3 months ago I have type 2 Diabetes and at first I didn't really get stressed out to much about it because the symptoms were mild and only a little anoyying (pee alot, Dry Mouth, ect...) but this last few weeks its seems my symptoms are growing it seems that I have this very bad ache in my right arm and hand and my legs ache like crazy and I get alot of tingling in both and I never had cold feet but man I can't wear enough socks around the house now... Does anyone have these problems? The Doctor has me on glucovance twice a day but I can't seem to get rid of this aching arms, leg and feet.
Last year I went for my flight physical and the Doc found my glucose was 344 mg/ decilitre. He said the level should not exceed 110. I was grounded from flying until my glucose could be regulated. My physician put me on two 500 mg of glucovance per day. In 3 weeks I had severe pain in my arms and legs which I thought might be muscle aches from an impending flu. That pain did finally stop but I had terrible pain in my feet. Felt like ants at first and then just very bad pain. My physician said the pain was all in my head but I had to take the rest of the year off from work because it was too painful for me to be standing all day. I am a teacher and the pain made it impossible for me to work. I didn't think neuropathy could set in that fast. I read from an analysis of glucovance that some patients did have some pain associated with the drug. The 2 pills a day made my glucose drop to 35-50 alot so I finally had to drop the dosage to 1/2 a pill per day. After a few months the pain subsided. A year later I usually take 1/2 of a pill a week if my glucose gets over 130 which is rare. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest, my pain went from a 9 to now a 2 when I cut back my glucovance. I now control my glucose with 1 hour of brisk walking and jogging and eating less than 1200 cal per day. Of course I went from 211 to 176 lbs in a few months. I notice if I control what I eat and get alot of activity, my glucose stays around 90-125 without the glucovance. I hope the drug did no permanent nerve damage. The numbness in my fingertips seems to have gotten better also.
