Discussions that mention ibuprofen

Arthritis board

Hi all. I am 31 and have been having joint pain for 2 months now. It started when my mother was in and out of the hospital for cancer. She was diagnosed on 9/16 and we lost her 10/20, on her birthday. Needless to say I have been dismissing several symptoms such as thinking that my tiredness and exhaustion was due to depression and the grieving process.

I went to the doctor a few weeks ago with pain in my shoulder and right wrist. I had thought that I might have injured myself while mom was in the hospital because I had to help her move several times. They gave me a shot of Toradol (sp?) and 800 mgs of Ibuprofen to take 3 times a day. The pain completely went away in my shoulder and is on and off in my right wrist. I'm not able to take the Ibuprofen that often because it really bothers my stomach. Well, 5 days ago the same pain started in my left wrist. Both hands and wrists were so painful, mostly at night and when I get up in the mornings. It hurts to grasp especially. I also have redness, swelling, and heat at times at my inside wrist area. I don't know if I've had a fever related to this...I have been sick 3 times since the end of September (flu like symptoms), catching everything coming and going.

I guess my questions are--are these symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis? Does the pain come and go, sometimes from day to day? I am adopted but I know that my paternal aunt was crippled from rheumatoid arthritis.

I have a doctor's appt the 10th, is there anything I should request or ask of my doctor then?

Thank you so much for listening to me. I'm sorry my post was so long. This board has already been a help to me. :)
