Discussions that mention janumet

Thyroid Disorders board

You should definately have your lipids checked and a gtt done.
My Endo did a 2 hour gtt and 2 hour insulin and found I had insulin resistance pretty severe......I am hypothyroid but also have insulin resistance. My symptoms of fatigue and weight gain were more connected to the insulin than my hypo......I feel 100% better now that I am on Janumet.

Sounds like your Endo is trying to be thorough............

I went off my ace inhibitor because my cough sounded terrible and my rx was expensive.......I just changed off it last week........cough already better.

Good luck. Oleander
YES!!!

My Endo that I was seeing for my thyroid did a 2 hour glucose tolerance test and a 2 hour insulin.......My blood sugar result is always good in fact low.....but always they just do a fasting blood sugar test nothing else....

So I do the testing and he does all these calculations with the results and tells me I am not diabetic but am insulin resistant. Which can cause fatigue, depression, and weight gain. My 2 hour insulin was 57 and it should be under 17. My initial fasting one was 15 then it shot up to 57 and took a while to come down.

My grandparents had diabetes, my brother had to go on insulin at 48. He was thin, healthy, takes great care of himself......it was a shock.....that was 10 years ago. My parents never had it. But it does run in the family.

So I watch what I eat...I try to stay to what they call a low glycemic index diet. Several small meals a day.......I also take Janumet twice a day. He says it will help to keep me from getting diabetes in the future hopefully....

I can tell you I do feel better and my weight is coming off....

What you need to know is one blood sugar test is not going to tell you anything or one insulin test.......you have to have the 2 hour test done for accurate results....

I only mention this because I kept blaming my thyroid for my fatigue and weight gain. I went from a size 7 to a 14 in one year!!! It was like my body changed overnight.. I lost energy and was tired all the time......I think it was more my insulin but a combination of porr functioning thyroid and insulin resistance. Some funky things start happening to us woman when our hormones start changing.
I am starting to feel and look like my old self again.......I hope it keeps up.

My blood pressure is much better now too......I am off of the Monopril and onto hydrochlorot 12.5mg. I have been monitoring it all week and it is the best it has been......Hurray.........

Good luck........back to work.....Oleander
