Pain Management board

My L4/5 S-1 Fusion was in 1996, since then I have had severe neuropathic pain. Different meds have helped the flare up and but have been on a battery of meds at different times (off the top of my head: neurontin, trazadone, klonopin, oxycontin, keflex, vicodin, norco, toradol, lortab, dilaudid, darvocet, percocet, topamax, oxycodone, baclofen, ketamin topical cream, ultram..many more...) In the past 2 years I got married and had a baby and while I was pregnant the high risk OB/Gyn's said to "knock yourself out with the opiates(norco) but NOTHING else" so I am now going off the norco. However now having a family, I no longer have the luxury of time to sit and lay in bed to wait for my flare- ups to subside. Prior to going on the norco, I had not been on pain killers for about 2 years. I went off Oxycontin (which I though the withdrawals would KILL me - I WANTED them to kill me at times. Ha Ha.)
However I know that I can't take a short acting opiate now but I also need to function having a husband, baby, dog, house etc (thankfully I am fortunate and do not have to work at this time) to take care of. My husband works 48 hour shifts and I am solo for those days. I am wondering if I could functiong clearly enough on Oxycontin and be able to take care of the baby and drive safely etc....does anyone have experience with this or any advice?
THANKS!!!
