hello,
This is a short version of what happened to me. I found this site & I honestly Pray that my story my help someone. I too have pyroderma gangrenosum. In 1996 I scraped my ankle in a barnyard & got this terrible infection... which, did respond well to the antiobiotic Keflex. After that almost everytime i had a cut of some type no matter how small, i'd get this same "infection". red circle, pustule looking, right in the center, of it, and from there boom! full blown. This summer July 2003, I nicked my leg while shaving, in the shower and the same thing happened. Only this time, it did not respond, to Keflex it just got bigger and bigger and painful and sore oh it, was awful. I found myself at our emergency dept. nightly getting I.V. antibiotics but nothing was working. I even ended up in surgery, to try and scrape it down. After, four days in hospital a doctor finally diagnosed it as pyroderma gangrenosum. He injected it all around the "circle" of it with steriod. and finally 14 days later it was better. if anyone, wishes to know the exact name of the drug he used let me know, and i'll find out for you. But, i finally now know what to do if one starts. I have a scar but i can live with that, however, it is completely healed over! I hope this has given some help to someone out there, who, like myself suffered.
