In my opinion, the best hope is the fusion. Hopefully this will relieve pressure on the nerves giving her less pain. Not everyone responds to Neurontin but there are a number of other options. If she is not getting help from it, she should ask for something else. Keppra, Gabatril, Topamax are just a few possibilities. Another suggestion is amitryptiline or a similar drug. It is an older antidepressant but it can help for pain and is great to help for sleep. I had a micro d with lamanectomy at L5,S1 in August and afterward had to be put on it and it really helped. Best of luck and keep trying to encourage her to hang in there for surgery. Pain sucks out loud but keep her focused on the chance for relief so you can get on with your lives together.
