Back Problems board

Hi Everyone! Have read almost everything here, so decided to get involved. Nine months ago, I injured my back at work. Within 4 hours, I was unable to move. Had an mri done, and the spine surgeon said i had a ruptured disk at t10-11 and lumbar radiculopathy in both extremities. I did PT, and had 3 epidural injections in thoracic and lumbar. The
pt lasted 3 months and made things worse. the injections helped some and lasted about 2 weeks. 3 months ago, the surgeon decided to do a CT scan and found spondylolisis and a grade I spondylolisthesis at L5. He wanted to do a fusion to repair the fracture. I told him that I wanted to go to a pain specialist first to see if the pain could be controlled first, and maybe try something less invasive first since we hadn't really focused on the new findings. I think I hurt his feelings (and pocketbook) but he referred my to PM doc. He wants to do FacetJoint Injections. I currently take 8 norco 10/325mg,(hydrcodone) 800mg of Neurontin 3 times a day for nerve pain in legs, and Klonopin for spasms and sleep. All my dr's treat me strangely because I didn't opt for surgery right away.
Does anyone think i am wasting my time with these shots? Is spinal fusion really the way to go? Any input will be welcomed. I'm glad I found this site.
