I also totally disagree with hry33. I have been on lexapro for almost two years. I weighed 110 when I went on it now I weigh almost 160. Nothing has changed except for the fact that I started taking lexapro. I am now in the process of weening myself off of it.

I just started taking Lexapro a month ago for a horrible General Anxiety Disorder I developed after a major traumatic physical condition that happened to me Six months ago! I HAVE'NT slept for six months due to it (only an hour or two at a time) and suffer greatly from the sleep deprevation! It know has turned into heavy depression since this condition has cost me my career two months ago! The Lexapro has done little to nothing to help the way I feel and I DO NOT want to be one of the "lab rats" or "guinea pigs" going from one AD to another while suffering the side effects of these "poisons" and the doctors have'nt a clue (plain IGNORANT) as far as what's what! It's all trial and error and a big guessing game at OUR expense, while the doctors and drug companies get RICHER!! This has also taking a GREAT TOLL on my Wife and kids. This is why if always AMAZES me (as I read these posts) that the two BIG concerns for sooooo many on these drugs is not how it's caused Major Hardships in their lives but rather how disturbed they are due to "WEIGHT GAIN" and their "SEX DRIVE"????? C'mon,, I only wish that was the only problems I could whine and complain about!!!!! This whole thing has cost me MY LIFE!!

I've actually lost weight on Lexapro. I've been taking it for a few months now and I've lost around 10 lbs since starting it. Everyone is different, but I really haven't had much of an appetite since starting this med.

I've been on Zoloft for two years and I've gained about 15 pounds. I'm the same as everybody else- I haven't changed my eating or exercise habits, and it really started about a year and a half ago. Then I switched to Lexapro before going back on Zoloft- I blame the Lexapro... It's good to know that others who are concerned with being healthy have also gained weight, even though they didn't change their lifestyle.
