Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) board

Hi everyone,

I'm new here. I have suffered with OCD since about elementary school, and I am now 28 years old.

I constantly repeat thoughts in my head (I see my thoughts as if they were written out on paper), and physical actions as well (such as touching zits on my face over and over, adjusting bedsheets, opening and closing drawers, etc.)

I spend about 8-10 hours a day, almost constantly, repeating things. They seem to be totally random, so I have had a hard time with CBT and exposure techniques, because my doctor didn't know how to expose me to what causes my OCD symptoms.

I didn't "click" well with my CBT doctor, so I have an appointment with a new doctor on Monday for CBT. I hope it goes better with her.

Also, medications haven't worked well with me. I've been on Celexa, Lexapro, Clomipramine, Zoloft, Luvox, pretty much everything with no success and only bad side effects to show for it.

I guess I'm just writing to get some support from others who have OCD and have had success overcoming it or at least managing it to have a forfilling life.

I haven't been able to work because of this, and I just recently filed for disability because of it.

Finally, I might be going to the OCD Institute in Boston, MA where you actually stay there for 1-3 months and work intensively every day with CBT. I just applied, and I'm going to see if it is even a possibility, depending on how much I have to pay for it.

Look forward to hear others' replies. Thanks.

Scott
