Pain Management board

Hi everyone, I am new to the board, but not new to cronic pain. I have nerve damage in my leg from an pelvic crush injury back in 2000. I am very lucky to be alive. I have underwent 20 surgeries over the past 6 years. So my question is. I am currently taking methadone and lidoderm patches to control the pain. My problem is that I notice that I don't have a lot of patience with people including my wife and children. This really bothers me. Could this be a reaction for the medicine or just a result of the dealing with the constant pain. Any suggestions? Thanks
Welcome to the Board Pelvic Crush! Sorry to hear about your situation. I would have one question. You say that you are on methadone and lidoderm patches for your pain but that you are in constant pain. Perhaps you don't have the right dosage of methadone? If you are being treated appropriately I would hope that your doctor was giving you some medication and/or physical therapy that would make you describe your pain in a different way. But if I felt like that 24/7, I think I'd be crabby and depressed myself. It sounds like you have some legitimate reasons to be down. Do you think it's time to reevaluate your treatment plan? Maybe life would look a whole lot brighter if you weren't hurting so much. Just a thought! All the best - KathyMac:p
