Discussions that mention lorazepam

Disabilities board

Hi

I know how your feeling, last time I seen my regular dr I had also asked about getting pain meds - he asked me how I felt after taking them- said totally out of it, he wouldn't give me any more either ( which is ok, I have some left over ones, and only take them when the pain is at a high level ) I take aleve which helps alot, least I don't get that groggy feeling later.

I know I was told too, the depression needs to get under control which is suppose to relive pains- I have servere pains all day also. I have tried ( lexapro- effexfor- cymbalta- and now paxil ) I also asked for something that will work "now" - I have been prescribed Lorazepam ( a addictive tranquilizer ) this is for a quick fix to have my insides get a relaxing effect, I won't be on these long, just long enough until the paxcil gets in the system.

Did you apply for SSI ? I would go to your local Human Services office and apply for medical assitance, talk to someone there about the situation, they will help you in the right direction.
You can call your case worker anytime and ask anything - they are very helpful, they should tell you where your case is at at least- ask them about applying for SSI also.

I am approved for SS, but the medical ( medicare program ) doesn't start until 2 yrs from now- seems odd but that's the way it is.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for you, you'll get some good news and find the right dr that is willing to help - only you know how you feel, times it's so hard to get that across to the dr's... I also have written "everything" down and given that to the dr's.. that was soooooo helpful - they all said I had no idea it was that bad--- hmmm, didn't they listen when I talked ? just know having it written down helped them understand so much more !

Take care- let me know how your doing !

Hi Debbie
thanks for your reply - yes I have filed for disability in september.

There are NO programs from human services for medical in my case because I have no children at home anymore - you have to have children.
I have been documenting my pain and moods here now for the past 2-3 years, I did take them to the physc when I had my visit with him (cried almost the whole hour I was there)....
I am just at my wits end here for something for the pain , I have read on here somewhere where some say you have to learn to live with the pain ! Well I have been fighting this the past 3 - 4 years and it's getting worse, I have also read that lumbar spinal stenosis is a crippling disease ( I feel half way crippled now and can't get anything for the pain:( ) somedays I just wish someone would shoot me ! It's that unbearable somedays ! I hate myself because I can't do alot of things - the biggest ones are NOT being able to clean my house and not being able to do things with my grandkids......in other words what fun is life when your not able to do anything ?!
I am contemplating on calling my case worker on my disability case and see what she has to say ...I NEED some answers here....do you think she would be able to tell me anything ???
hey I do thank you for listening to me
p.s. in your letter above are you saying that if I do get approved for disabilty , it will be 2 years before I receive any medical help ??
thanks and HUGS to you
