High & Low Blood Pressure board

[QUOTE=lexus32;3290088]if my blood pressure was 220/30 what should i do

Mine was close to that when I measured it at a pharmacy and not far below that point when I went to the Dr's. office. An option they will likely offer is for you to go to the hospital for several days where they will give you medication via an IV and monitor you on a frequent basis. I chose to accept the prescription meds even though the prospect of taking them really deflated me. I was given Lotrel 5/20 which dropped my BP, but 10 days later, it was still running from 135 - 150 / 85 -100. At my follow up vist, he increased the Lotrel dose to 10 / 40.

I'm an anomally in the sense that even at 70lbs overweight, I was exercising for an 1 1/2 hours 6 days per week. I thought this immunized me from a careless diet. Next step was a full blood workup and the tale of the tape revealed high cholesterol, LDL, Triglycerides and elevated glucose.

It was a wake up call.
