Back Problems board

I am new to this board but I have been reading a lot of posts. I have had back problems for the last 10 years with flare ups off and on. About a 1 1/2 ago I had a "flare-up" and have not recovered. I have done pt, injections, chiropracotor, pain management, MRI's and nothing really showed up except DDD and scoliosis.

I got fed up with my current pain mgmt and ended up going to Mayo. Their pain management gave me an SI injection and the pain is not nearly what it was. What my question is, do people still have to take pain medicine even though the injection worked some? I beat myself up about taking my meds. I am on Cymbalta 60 mg, Loratab with acetomenophine, 500 mg 4 times a day. I try not to take it four times a day because I am afraid I will get addicted. But sometimes the pain is so bad I can't even sit down!! Or stand up or anything.............I also use a tens unit which does help.

Is it bad to take the Loratab everday like that? I have tried Lyrica which didn't do anything. My pain managment doc mentioned Ultram but I have read horror stories about that.

Sorry this is so long.............
