Hi kelligh-
I don't blame you for being scared..since many of the people who take vikes for pain-end up abusing them.
Maybe you can take them as needed..only when you are really in severe pain-have you spoke to your doc about any other alternatives?
If you didn't abuse the methadone maybe you will be ok w/ the hydrocodone.
Its a tough call-you could try it as needed but if you sense you"like them too much"..don't take them-and try another med.
Good luck-and stay well.

Kelleigh,

Why did you get off of methadone and why were you on it? I'm assuming you were/are an addict? The majority of addicts that have chronic pain that cannot be controlled by a non narcotic end up having to take methadone. So I'm confused about your situation and why you stopped taking it. Also, Root is a poster here who has been through hell and back with addiction and chronic pain and needing narcotics for it. He's actually going to detox to get off of hydros and then they are going to see what they can do about his pain. He might can offer some advice. Chef is another poster here that takes methadone for chronic pain and he's a recovering addict as well. Hope you get more answers. I seriously don't think that Yoga is going to help you when you've already tried all of these other things and this is a true medical situation. However, is surgery an option?

Banker brings up some really good points. Since it sounds like it is a chronic pain situation, vicoden may not be the best option for you (being that it is a short acting pain reliever and highly addictive). My understanding is that methadone is often used to control pain; and is a good long-acting option. So, is there a reason you are no longer on the methadone? With chronic pain; that may be the best option. I have a friend with severe chronic pain due to fibromyalgia and methadone has given her back her life. Just a thought. I hope you get answers and relief from your pain very soon. You are in my thoughts.

just out of curiosity, how does anyone abuse methadone...i was on methadone years ago and had to go to the clinic daily to get my dose...80 mgs...swallow open mouth lift tongue and say ahhh...then they would let me go...just wondering how methadone could be abused, unless they let you take it home i guess, but here in massachusetts, hell no!

ii was on a pill form from my doc 30mgs wasnt taking for heroin addiction its very easy to abuse when you are prescribed 180 5 milligram pills every month for 2 or so years 10 mgs goes to 20 20 goes to 30 and so on trust me its possible also my sister is on 130mgs for addiction and she buys xtra bottles all the time so she can obtain some kind of euphoria being that it is synthetic heroin peace kelleigh
