I have been on it for over 1 year, and I have helped 2 others get on it from Methadone, If you under 40mg of methadone a day, it will be a little rough, nothing like full w/d though. If your on 80 and above of meth, you are going to need a few days off. The rewarded are great though, after a while you will have more energy. Also 8 mg of buprenorphine (subutex) in about equal to 40 mg of meth. If you need it for pain killing also, break it up and take a small piece every 4-6 hours. This medicine in its painkiller form Temgesic comes in .2 mg doses.

I don't know about Switching from H ti Subutex, but I know it is hell for about 5-10 days from 100 mg of methadone a day. When I started They only told me to take 8mg of subutex a day, I was up and down for the first month, I now take 16 mg a day, when I went up on the dose everything mellowed out. I guess the worst I ever did was bumping 2-4mg Dialaudid's at a time.
Opiate Addiction is very complicated, I have read more on this subject, and have read all the data on Subutex, Even the ruling for it to be released for use in the US. There are too many things that can change how your body acts after large doses and long use.
I know that heavy use combined with deep depression is asking for trouble, that's where my main problem lies. I stayed clean,,COMPLETELY for 3 years, those where the worst three years of my life.
Opiate addiction is now classified as an illness and not as an weakness of willpower.

they are......the pleasure centers are of the same for sex/alcohol/nicotine/opiates......wellbutrin they think goes to work on those areas along w/other anti-depressants...thats why clonidine has some effect over the w/d's cause they think it goes right to the opiate receptors..so when you get off the opiates remeber that...hows my favorite banker doin today anyways...also,these folks complain about the w/d's from methadone and they are cold turking from 100 or higher mgs...you gotta slow weaN everythin...and i mean for you to be as comffie as possible slow wean from everything...thats me new sayin......gotta cook....chef

I've missed you. I agree completely... You will end up in the hospital if you c/t from methadone... especially that high. I don't know how in the heck people can do it. I'm doing great! I'm losing weight - VERY slowly, work is going well, the Wellbutrin definitely did the trick for my depression. I haven't cried in forever... I feel really good. I've met someone and of course, I'm somewhat giddy about him but my problem is I always rush into things (imagine that... addict and all) and I need to slow it down. But he's all I think about and I honestly feel like he feels the same. I'm trying to be a 'good girl'... he's very much a gentleman and treats me beautifully. I'm so not used to that. --- how are your kids? How frequently do you get to see them? Is your ex flexible when it comes to them? Anyway, let me know how you are.... you mentioned starting to think about starting the slow taper yourself...??? What's the story on that?

Listen, Humble, if there is one thing I know is that Subutex works but you have to use it properly. I have detox off 700mg of oxycontin a day with Subutex and it worked wonderfully. Listen Humbleman they way Sub.. works is this. It is a opiate substitute that adhears to your receptors better than methadone would. However if you use it too soon you WILL UNDOUBTABLELY GO INTO WITHDRAWL ALMOST IMIDIATELY. This is because it is such a good fit to your rreceptors that it PUSHES the methadone out of the way and hence imidiate DOPESICKNESS!!!! The tick is to wait (however long it takes) to go into withdrawl ie.shakes, sh**ts,aches,craves ect. then start taking the subutex 2mgs every 90 minutes untill you feel better(don't go over 8mgs tthe first day) Remember with Subutex Less is more it is a very strong drug and has a half life of 36hours in your system. SUBUTEX does work you have to use it correctly I am proof.

My doctor is putting me in the hospital to go from Methadone to Suboxone. I can't imagine doing it without being monitored. That way the doc can adjust my dose IMMEDIATELY if I'm not okay. I've been on methadone for 12 years and I don't want to me on it for the rest of my life. However, I am extremely grateful that I haven't had to drink or use in 12 years. Every doc I spoke to told me to stop taking the methadone 1-3 days prior to the initial dose of Suboxone so I don't have heavy withdrawls. But it only temporary. Tomorrow is my d-day - - off methadone. I'd love to talk to someone about what it feels like to go from methadone to Suboxone. I posted this request and no one has replied. (praying, hoping for a response)

My doctor also gave me a script for WELLBUTRIN, to quit smoking. I am wondering if this is such a good thing to do since I am going into detox from the vicodin hopefully on the 29th. Should I start taking it now or wait until when I get back from detox?
