Discussions that mention methadone

Addiction & Recovery board

I was actually prescribed a hydrocodon cough suppressant during mid pregnancy for a terrible case of bronchitis and was told it wouldn't cause problems. Early pregnancy is a little different because everything is actually forming and you shouldn't take anything unecessary. However, I think you'll be okay. As long as you keep tapering, and maybe even speed it up a bit to keep as much as you can out of your system.

I have heard of heroine addicts who quit in the 4th or 5th month and went on to have healthy babies, and those on methadone through the entire pregnancy who have had healthy babies (this should only be done under a doctors supervision, of course.) So as long as you stop as soon as you can, chances are you should be just fine. Have you spoken with a doctor? They may can advise you the best route to take.
