Hey Trace!
This sounds like a complicated one. I realize you are from Australia so things may work differently but if you are in the middle of a lawsuit couldn't you seek out the treament of a specialist. Perhaps through a lean on your case? It sounds extremely cruel to wait until you can't walk & whoever told you that should have action taken against them as well. (Maybe look into that?)
They are essentialy taking away your rights to seek out treatment & confining you to this fate. There must be other options!
Get other docs & lawyers opinions if you are reaching roadblocks. Don't give up hope, there must be other alternatives than waiting for the worst to happen.

If you had better insurance what treatments would be available?
I probably wouldn't start something like morphine until I was desperate..but that's just me. I'm sure there are others here who know more about this.
I am on vioxx (antiinflammatory), Zanaflex (muscle relaxer), & neurontin (peripheral neuropathy).
There are also exercises you could probably do on your own to strengthen your back. But be careful not to injure yourself worse (no weights). I'm not sure if I mentioned this already to you, but swimming is the best therapy for all back disorders.
Please let me know how you're doing. Good luck. :)

thanx for replying Juniper,
I am giong to seek another opion about this. Ive seen an orthopedic sugeon but they wouldnt do anything as it was in litigation. I am reaching blocks everyway i turn with this. My doc wont help and i have been to several docs before the one i am seeing know. I have got another option is to go to the hospital but all they want to do is give me morphiene but i would rather wait a bit more. I enjoyed swimming as i releaves the pressure of my back but i find it difficulat to get out of the pool and it weights me back down. Although the time spent in the water is good. :) i have tried pyshio but that only aggrevated the pain so it stopped soon after it began. The prob is when i move it hurts so i am very limited to movement. Cant walk long distance or short ones actually. But i try and that is what gets me there i suppose. I take brufen (inflammatory) when the pain gets really bad and kinda centralised on the back, the pain seems to go after awhile but doesnt make that much diff. But iam giong to get another doc to look at it. Hopefully they will sned me to a neurosurgoen who will do a mri soon and hopefully shed some light on all this. Hope all is well for u and talk to u soon.
Hey guys, I had a ruptured l5s1 and boy did it give me grief my legs felt they were on fire and no matter what I could not get relief until I had an op to right the situation but I mucked it up with a motor bike accident a year later-another ruptured disc, I've had a total of 5 ops so now it's just pain management which is a bit hit and miss, see how my morphine pump go!
May you all be pain free

Regards,

Rob

Hey rob how does the morphiene work the docs want to put me on it but i am abit reluntent to at this moment in time would it be better for me than panadiene forte allthe time as i take a max oa 8 per day then i take 2-3 brufen also if i could stop and just take the one then i would be happier. I have to go into hosapital for a couple of days to see weither it doesnt cause a reaction with me. Did they do that to u and i can have the tabs with carefull monitoring is that much diff to the pump? If anyone has any answers then i would apprectiate it . thank and keep smiling :d
