Percocet 5/325 is equivalent to 5mg of morphine and 325mg of tylenol. I was a Hospice nurse for 7 years so I know my pain meds. Hope this helps
Hi Pearljam,

I'm not sure if I can help much on this one, as I'm having the same problems as you are with pain control.
I just have to keep living day by day, and hoping I will get better soon.

I am taking percocet 7.5/325 mg. plus also have been taking the ambien at the same time for sleep.
Neither seems to work for me very well.
The percocet only takes the edge off of the pain, while the ambien isn't even helping me sleep.

I have only been sleeping 1-3 hours a day since I had the surgery on 12/6, and the pain is releived somewhat, but for only part of the day.
I don't understand why though.

It is my understanding that the strength of the percocet I have, should really be helping me out more ?

I did see on some web sites, that the percocet also goes by the names of Oxycontin, as well as Oxycodone, and they are pretty strong drugs, so I'm clueless as to why they aren't helping me more....

Maybe it has something to do with the fact I was taking Vicodin for the past two years, and my tolerance is way up.

I don't know what else to do at this point, because my doc will more than likely refuse morphine patches, and I really don't want to go that route to begin with.

I am only supposed to take two percocet, and one ambien at a time.
So, for two nights now, I have moved the percocet's up to three, and still took the one ambien, and saw no change, still only able to pump out 1-3 hours of sleep.

The first night I took the percocet, I thought wow, what a buzz, and I was falling asleep within ten minutes. I thought it was the greatest stuff on earth.

Why it's not effecting me now very much, is still a mystery.

I don't want to call the doc, because he will probably think I am an addict or something like that, and I'm not sure if he would give me something stronger anyways.

I do notice some improvement everyday, but I contribute that to lots of walking, and lots of stairs.

I also have vicodin 5/500, but that is now like candy, for the post op pain.

I'm sorry to ramble on, but I assume pain relief is what you are looking for, if you find it, please be sure to clue me in..... :)

I will try once again to get some sleep in a little while !

Good Luck,
