hoosierfan,
I would think you should be ok. I had about an hour's drive home and they had given me morphine IV and a percocet before I left the hospital AND my seat was reclined very much so I was good and comfortable. Good luck to you! Do you have a tear or a herniation? Just curious. Successtory has SO much good info and I look to her since she had true success.....so ask her anything too and she's a great help!

Successtory,
Thanks once again. Yeah, I know you had said that botu the 1 month wait and I too think I will wit and see how I feel when the time comes as I don't want to start PT too soon. I have followed your other directions to a "T"! I have them printed out and right by my bed and you give me inspiration! I was a little confused about whether I should walk or not- as I though maybe it would be good to "move around" but I do have more pain after I walk so I didn't think it was such a good diea. Glad to hear you so none for first two weeks. I will follow. I am truly afraid I just feel so good as I have been laying horizontal as my pain has always increased after movement. But I will try to have faith and stay POSITIVE and see what happens. I'm just happy my soreness has subsided or started too. I almost feel as before just about 1-2 pain levels worse. Maybe the heat "seared" the pain sensors and that's why I don't feel so much pain at the site anymore? Did your brace bother you at all when you wore it or wear it? I seem to remember your's was L5S1 too...

Etoile...
Sorry about the troubles with your insurance. I have BCBS and a truly poor plan as my husband is a med student but somehow- someway it was covered. In fact, I would go through teh steps of calling yoru doctor and finding out the diagnosis and procedure codes an then calling your insurance to reference those. For example, I had a "spinal surgery" procedure code so it wasn't like it said "IDET" or something like that. Sneaky I know but might be worth a shot. Just doublecheck.

Baxter- Thanks for your support. Hope you are feeling some relief! Know that you have certainly brought much relief to many...

DShull- Great news that you are starting to feel better!! I was afraid to go looking for your but I have been thinking of you and hopeing you are well! That is wonderful- although discouraging abotu the length of time but I have resolved to be patient regardless...though it is starting to be very difficult....I wish I could ask you where you go for PT but I don't think it's allowed on the boards. As I had mentioned I think I had my IDET done in MA although I live outside Philly and I need to find a PT who has dealt with IDET patients before and I know it won't be easy and I am sure your's is one of them. Maybe I will ask a moderator if I can ask you that.....well best of luck to you and hope to hear more good news!! Thanks for your wishes.....
