Discussions that mention morphine

Back Problems board

At the ER last night, they gave me so much morphine, you would think that would at least dull the pain, it didn't do a thing for me. I had to fight with one doctor about the pain that I am feeling. I actually was in tears last night, and the gave me Fentenal (sp) and they still didn't want to admit me to the hospital, felt I would do better at home, but this kind of pain I am feeling is scaring me. I have had a history of falls when I had muscle pain along with numbness, and now that the leg pain is this severe, they send me home. I pray I don't fall down the stairs. The Er doctor instead call a residence who didn't come to see me, told them that there was no change in the MRI. I will be seeing the ortho nurse practioner tomorrow, hopefully I will have some kind of news on this. I can't sit long, lie down for a long period of time unless I am soo drugged up with pain meds and muscle spasm medication, I can't bend to tie my own shoe, Yet there is nothing wrong with me. I am sorry for the long post I'm just frustrated, and in pain. Thank you though for your replies I do appreciate it, also thank you for allowing me to vent a little

Isillyme,
I am sorry to hear you are having such a rotten time these days. I don't know how you'll be able to hold out until June to get your surgery under way... Any way you can see one of your surgeon's associates instead of waiting for him (or her)? Was there anything specific that happened to make your pain worse? Next time, if there is a next time, that you feel bad enough to go to the emergency department, tell them that the morphine isn't effective on you and that you need something stronger like fentanyl, demerol, or dilaudid.

I wish you the best. :)
