Discussions that mention morphine

Pain Management board

hapy jack,

Dihydrocodeine isn't used much here, except in a couple of preparations. It's not oxycodone. In potency dihydrocodeine falls between codeine and hydrocodone (Vicodin). Oxycodone is significantly more potent, about 50% stronger than morphine.

I know this sounds "off the wall," but would methadone treatment for pain be totally out of the question? I can see it almost killing two birds with one stone so to speak. I found it to be the best pain med I ever used. And if it can serve to keep you off of street drugs, or even overusing your scripted meds, then so much the better.

Just curious...
