Allergies board

Good that you're seeing an ENT on monday. I would seriously discuss the decision to start allery shots. I'd try every avenue of medications before I would do the shots. The shots entail getting 1 or 2 each week. After about 6 months of weekly shots, your doctor will decide when you can start maintenance treatment. Maintenance shots are usually given just once each month, year round. You'll need to get monthly allergy shots for 3 to 5 years. Then you may be able to stop having shots. Typically allergy shots take 6 months or more before they start working.

Some medication you could try first are:
Nasalcrom
Claritin
Flonase
Astelin
Zyrtec

There are many, many others. Also if you're just allergic to ragweed, then during the winter months you shouldn't need any medications. So discuss whether this is just ragweed or other allergies too.

Good luck.
