Today is my halfway point of TX-week 12 of 24 (YAY):D -I also asked the doc if, since my viral load is now and has been undetectable, can I stop TX?
He told me that the recommendation to ensure that it stays gone is to finish the regimen of 24 weeks-
I misspoke before about the other drug I just started for my low WBC (1.8) it's called [COLOR="Red"]Neupogen-another weekly injection to bring up my WBC
-Anyone taking this? I love the possible side effects-severe bone pain and possible ruptured spleen!

Hi eyes-- i did not take neupogen for my low white cell count although i did take epo (procrit) for severe low red cell count. my med student daughter told me she was more worried about the the low white than the low red cells(of course she was not experiencing the horrible side effects of anemia!). As it turned out, she may have been right all along--i ended the tx a week early because i was hospitalized with pneumonia! this was almost surely a serious infection hitting me (and so hard) because the white cells were so low. thankfully, they responded quickly and sharply, and i was home within days, even though it took weeks and weeks to get back to 'normal'

So, i'd take neupogen if I were ever in that situation again. of all the side effects I got--and my list was long and sorry--catching a potentially fatal lung disease has to top the list.
my doc also told me that other opportunistic infection occur on this treatment as well--abcesses, etc.

so, build up those white cells! it turns out to matter.

peace

sean
thanks Sean-I am so tired! I'm on weekly blood work now and I'm anxious to see if my wbc has come up since the 1st Neupogen shot.
I do have a cough and I hope it doesn't get worse.
