Back Problems board

I am sure you've heard it before. I've had on/off back pain for years now, but, for about a month, that all changes, and an MRI confirmed it.
as follows:

"At L5-S1 there is a posterior disc herniation progressively increasing from the left paracentral to right foraminal displacing the right side s1 root posteriorly and on today's exam since the prior exam there is a herniated extruded component of this that extends down into the right lateral recess"

So, my L5-S1 is herniated, pressing against s1 nerve root in an area where I have stenosis.

I have had 5 steroid injects over the last 4 - 5 years. But, in the last month, my right foot has gone numb, and I have intense pain from my left buttock down, and now feel my calf starting to tingle a bit. I am afraid I will have permanent nerve damage. I am a avid runner and weight trainer, and I fear that I may not be able to return to this.

My issue is I get 3 different stories:

1. Pain Doctor says do another steroid injections with more Norco 10s (I know)
2. Chiropractor says he can fix it with manipulation and 8 weeks of therapy.
3. Orthopedic surgeon says surgery (laminectomy or disk trimming)

Any ideas on what I should do?

I do not know what to do.
Thanks!! Had my last injection about a month ago, BEFORE this acute pain/numbness started. Before this month, just general back/leg pain. Stuff I could generally live with, but now.. Oooof. Unbearable pain. Even the Norco doesn't really work. Is Oxycodone any better? The doctor gave me Tramadol to "stack" with the Norco (Hydrocodone 10mg), but it's useless.
I am thinking about asking for Oxycontin until they can relieve this misery, but, I do not want to get addicted to anything, like Rush L.
