Disabilities board

[QUOTE=bellablue2;3396513]Hi Rayafaye it's my sister who has RSD and I am going to tell her about the Med that you are on. She has gained so much weight I am getting really worried. She has a spinal stimulator as well. In my oponion I do not think they really help. The lyrica seems to cause more harm. How do you handle this RSD. What med's help you. I would like to have my sister enter this site so she can talk to someone who is in the same pain as she is in.
Thanks,
Jeane

I take Neurontin 3600 mg a day, Norco 10/325 mg 4 x a day, Soma 350mg 4 x a day (for muscle spasms) and Celebrex 400 mg a day. I started on a lose dose of Neurontin which the increase slowly over time and it works better for me than Lyric. So far I never had any weight problems with it and it is also way cheaper than Lyrica. The Noro is a naracotic but no a real strong one, the Neurontin has really been a life saver for me. The Celebrex is for arthritis and the Soma is for uncontolable muscle spasms in my neck from where I suffer from Cervical dystonia. A lot of the stronger naracotics like Oxycontin and so forth don't really help with nerve pain. There is also another type of pain medication that some take that works called Topamax which also doesn't cause weight gain. Another one that people with RSD used to help with nerve pain is Cymbalta. I hope this help and maybe your sister or a family member can suggest these to help her if she's having difficulties with the Lyrica. I have heard some people say that the Spinal Cord Stimulator never helped them, I don't have one and don't plan to get one either. I read about too much negativity about them. Your sister are to join the message boards because they do have a RSD board where she could talk to others with RSD.

I don't mean to butt in but the Topamax is an anti-convulsant that is sometimes used to treat BP however it is also used to treat migraines as that is what I am prescribed to use it for. I was on the Cymbalta and it is supposed to help with about 30% of the pain is what I was told by my psychiatrist however it did nothing for me but everyone is different so it may help someone else. Hope this helps a little. Jenn
