Back Problems board

For the last 12 months I have been taking a range of medications that have allowed me to live a relatively normal life all be it with a day or so here and there resting to settle donor site pain. My dr has sort to tackle the pain problem from a number of different perspectives. These are some of the meds I take on an off depending on the level of pain I am experiencing. I also have regulay physio to develop the muscles that support the spine.

I take the following on and off:
1. Norgesic. It contains orphenadrine citrate and paracetamol. Orphenadrine citrate is a skeletal muscle relaxant. It acts in the central nervous system to produce its muscle relaxant effects. Paracetamol is used to treat or prevent pain and reduce fever.

2. Tramal (200) Sustain release tablet 1 per day. I also take anti inflams on and off depending on where the pain is originating.

3. Epilim - This is an extremely useful drug with a wide range of anti-epileptic activity. It is thought to act by increasing the brain's levels of the inhibitory neurotransmitter, GABA which in my case inhibits pain sinals being sent to the brain.
4. Xanax Alprazolam is an anti anxiety agent, benzodiazepine's used primarily for the relief of mild to moderate anxiety and nervous tension.

4. Somac - stmach tablet

None of these appear to inhibit my functioning however they took a few weeks to get use to.

The only other thing I take for pain is Pan forte which I take on average once or twice a week or 2 at night if Im sore and cant get to sleep. There are days that I forget my meds but it does not appear to cause in an escalation of pain

Hope this is of some help. Perhaps you should consider a dr that will listen to you rather than hand you sripts. Good luck
