Discussions that mention ortho-cept

I am confused-are Desogen, Apri and Ortho-Cept all the same, w/Apri being the generic. I have done much research on bc pills and acne, found some great sites listing androgen activity (people prone to acne should go on a pill low in androgen activity-Ortho Tri is listed as number one, but did not work so going to try a different pill)-and have decided to try Desogen which has a different form of progestin but I am confused about the generic form.
I'm not sure about the Ortho-Cept, but Apri is the generic for Desogen.
Ortho-cept is the same as Desogen, but it's made by another company. It's not a generic. Apri is the generic for Desogen and Ortho-cept.
I've been on all 3. And for whatever weird reason, Desogen name brand worked best for me with 2 day periods. Then Apri with 5 day periods. Ortho-Cept is my least favorite. Its not controlling my bleeding. But all 3 have helped my acne a little. I'm on a bunch of other stuff too... antibiotics, differin, klaron, and spironolactone.
You might also want to consider Yasmin since it is the only one with an anti-androgenic progestin. I've been on that too, but Desogen is still my favorite :)
