Discussions that mention oxycontin

Sage, yes this is very confusing and I just researched this indepth myself. So hopefully, I have this right because I am just another spinney.

Oxycodone Only = Brand Names: M-Oxy, OxyContin, Oxyir, Percolone, Roxicodone. It does not contain Tylenol just the oxycodone.

Percocet is Oxycodone and Tylenol.

If you med says Oxycodone 10/325 you are taking 10 oxycodone and 325 of Tylenol. You are taking a generic percocet.
Oxycodone with tylenol in any milligram is the generic form of percocet, oxycontin and the like.
The difference is that oxycodone 10/325 has oxycodone and 325 mg of tylenol. The 5/325 has 5 mg of oxycodone and 325 mg of tylenol. They are generally short acting medications.
Oxycontin has no tylenol in it whatsoever and it is available in either short acting formulas or long acting.

Sorry to hear you are having a hard time with the meds. I too am allerigic to morphine. When I had my surgery I was given Fentanyl Epidural instead if the morphine pain pump. They kept it in me til my 4th day, then I went to OxyContin.

I hope your doctor can find something that works for you, I know it can be hard when you are allergic to all that stuff that can help you.

Hi moldova, I am sorry to hear you are having issues with your pain. I am allergic to vicodin, methadone, and codeine, my doc had a hard time prescribing pain meds for me and especially because my pain was not relieved by anything. Funny thing is I took morphine it did not help, then oxycontin, demerol and then fentanly patches, nothing worked. But get this when I started feeling better and trying to come down off the meds she tried norco, now I did not realize it is like vicodin, strangely i did not have any reactions to it. So now I am taking 2 norco as needed and motrin 800mg, but as of a couple of days ago nothing is helping my pain, so I am at square one again. Well, I hope the find the right meds for you, take care and keep us posted.
