Thanks Kera for the suggestions. I am doing everything but walking. My spa is not that deep.

I have a second hot tub that must close during the winter time with the pool and maybe we could use this as the cold hot tub with jets. If I let everyone come, you just have to promise me that no one with a walker/cane will try to jump off the diving board. Okay? LOL

Today I saw my doctor again and he has agreed to leave me on the oxycontin for another two months and if I can't come down on it, we will be switching to methadone. He just does not like to leave his patients on oxycontin for long. So it looks like I have a couple months of comfort!! :)
yay Pepper!

So glad to hear you're feeling better! I haven't been around for a week or so, so it's great to log on to see you doing good!

As for the oxycontin, I've never taken it but it sounds pretty hardcore. Have you ever tried or considered morphine sulfate XR? From what I understand it's not as serious as oxycontin, so I was thinking it might be a good step down. Maybe not.

I haven't used heat yet, but I'm getting to the point with my PT that I'm more sore than anything else, so I should give it a try!

Keep it up, Pepper!

David, unfortunately I have alot of medication allergies and so far the only pain meds that they have been able to use on me without severe reactions are: versed (twilight sedation), percocet, narco, vicodin, and oxycontin. The vicodin and narco are not strong enough to control my pain. If I take regular percocet my family doctor does not believe in prescribing over 1500 mg of tylenol to anyone on a daily basis which is why he ended up switching me to the oxycontin. They have been talking about switching me at some point to methadone if we are unable to reduce my meds in the next couple of months. (Yes, my family doctor is talking about reducing my meds and I have been only been stablized for the last two weeks with pain levels of 5,6,7 and 8's.:mad:)
Hello Pepper ~

Would you mind telling me how much oxycontin you are taking? I've been trying to figure out what amount might be considered "typical."

You might ask this question on the pain board but from my research I am finding that my dose is low. I am taking 20 mg. 3 times daily.

FYI - I have been told that brand name is the best with this medication but I take a generic TEVA Brand and do fine on it. Apparently the other generics of this oxycontin is supposed to be inferior.
