Switched from Paxil to effexor Xr (75mg) and am curious what daily dosages other Effexor XR users take for general anxiety disorder.

I am on 150mg a day. 75mg a day didn't quite do it for me. Effexor has changed my life. I have had no side effects at all. I stopped taking paxil because I began to gain weight. I am always watching my weight, so paxil was not for me. Good luck, I hope you do as well as I have.

I found the Paxil better at controlling my GAD, but then again it may be because I am taking a borderline dosage of Effexor (according to the Effexor website) for GAD. Like yourself, I did not like the Paxil side effects, constant fatigue and lethargic, the sexual side effects, weight gain and on and on. I have experienced few side effects under the Effexor XR, but imho a better medication for me than the Paxil. I think I wll experiment and up the dosage to 112.5 mg (3 x 37.5) for awhile and see how I respond.

BTW I take my Effexor XR in two dosages per day, how about yourself. Even the Effexor XR has a short half life in the body.
